CHANDIGARH: The unusual weather conditions in the city have surprised residents, as the temperature has shot up by about 7 degrees celsius in the last five days.
After the city experienced the lowest maximum temperature of 27.6 degrees celsius last week in the past six years, the days are getting muggy again.
The maximum temperature on Tuesday was 34.4 degrees celsius.
Last Friday was the coolest day of the season when mercury here went a degree down than Srinagar. The meteorological department is predicting a further rise in day temperature on Wednesday.
The department said city will have to wait for another two to three days for rain, as the movement of western disturbances has slowed down in the hilly areas. But the muggy weather is a clear indication that there will be rainfall soon. The temperature would rise further for the next two-three days and there is possibility of rains after Thursday, said an official of the met department.
After the city witnessed 29.3mm rain on Monday the residents were hoping for pleasant weather conditions on Tuesday, instead they woke up to a sultry morning.
The muggy weather saw a rise in temperature by 2 degrees Celsius, adding to the discomfiture of the residents. Monday’s maximum temperature was 32.8 degrees Celsius.The maximum temperature is rising with each passing day, adding to discomfort of residents.Sumit Sharma, a software professional from Shimla said that he came to the city on Tuesday morning, expecting pleasant weather conditions here, but what greeted him was sultry weather. And the unpredictable weather has also resulted in residents caught unawares and falling ill. Sunita Seth, a resident of Sector 19, said that, her son got drenched in the rain while returning from school and has been running fever.
